EASTER EGG TORN PAPER CRAFT

This torn paper Easter egg is a great craft for hand strengthening as well as developing fine motor muscles as children have to carefully use their fingers to tear the pieces apart. They also need to push down the pieces onto the egg to make them stick. It's also great for hand/eye co-ordination as they decide where to stick each piece and try to keep them within the egg outline.

This craft is a super easy low prep activity, you just need access to a printer, paper and glue. If you don't have coloured paper you can use any scrap paper, newspaper or old magazines or catalogues to make the paper egg.

HOW TO MAKE A TORN PAPER EASTER EGG

1. Print out egg template onto white paper. You could also print it on cardstock, but paper will work just fine.

2. Tear coloured paper into small pieces. Children can tear the paper into any shape or size they want. Tearing the paper is a great way for them to work their fine motor skills and practice hand/eye co-ordination.

3. Glue torn paper pieces onto egg template. It's easiest for children to do this using a glue stick so they can cover each piece of paper fully with glue to make sure it sticks down properly.

Children can place the torn paper any way they like, don't worry if they overlap colours or leave gaps between pieces, each torn paper egg will turn out unique. Older children are more likely to experiment using different colours to create designs or patterns such as zig zags, stripes or circles on their eggs, whereas younger children will probably just glue the pieces anywhere and everywhere.
