This super easy, low prep E is for eyes letter craft is a creative way to teach early literacy and build fine motor skills. If you're looking for ways to teach the letter E, this craft is a great way to reinforce the letter as eyes, eyeballs, eyebrows and eyelashes all start with e and are all featured in this craft.
I've also put together a free printable letter E template you can use to make this craft even easier for young children. This is a great activity to incorporate into your letter of the week learning for letter E either at home or in the classroom.
This E is for eyes craft is a great way to teach young children about the letter E as it involves minimal items and eyeballs are an easily recognisable facial feature that start with the letter E. Even toddlers will recognise and understand what eyes are and they shouldn't get overwhelmed by the craft as it doesn't involve too many steps.
Putting the eyeballs onto the shape of a capital letter E also introduces and reinforces letter recognition and the letter formation of E.
Supplies Needed:
- Letter E template
- White paper
- Eye stickers
We used foam eye stickers for our letter E because there were a lot of different eye options in the packet and the foam stickers are easy for my girls to peel the backing off of. You could also use cartoon eye stickers, black and white eye stickers, self adhesive googly eyes or eye beads {you'll also need glue if you use beads}.
HOW TO MAKE LETTER E EYES CRAFT
1. Print off letter E template. Download and print the free printable letter E template onto white paper.
2. Choose a selection of eye stickers. Give children a variety of eye stickers to use for their craft.
3. Stick eye stickers onto letter E template. Peeling off the sticker backing and pushing the stickers onto the letter E are great ways for children to practice their pincer grip and build their hand strength.
This eyeball craft is designed to be simple and fun, so don't worry how many eyes children stick onto the E, where exactly they place them or even if they put matching eyes next to each other. Just sticking the eyes onto the E already involves lots of learning and because it's fun and hands-on they're more likely to retain information about the letter E.
