Love to Dream 2.5 tog nuzzlin sleep bag + arm warmers review

This week Queensland finally realised that its meant to be getting colder around here {only a few months late, but never the less we got there in the end}. I'm not sure if it was Autumn showing up fashionably late or Winter popping in a few days early, but since the start of the week its been decidedly cooler. I'm actually a huge fan of the cooler months, I love nothing more than jeans, socks, layering and lounging on the couch under a warm blanket {not that I do much of that since I had bub, but I can reminisce of days gone by}.

Thanks to our never ending summer this year, the sudden cold snap has come as a bit of a shock, especially at night. Just last week we were still sleeping with the air conditioner on to keep cool. This week we're sleeping with the air conditioner on to keep warm. It's funny how 20 degrees has gone from feeling really cool to really warm all of a sudden.

Bub isn't so lucky in her room though. She's gone from an average of 24 degrees overnight to an average of about 18 degrees. Even though she's nearly 3, I'm still paranoid about whether she's too hot or too cold overnight. Yep almost three years in and I still have anxiety about certain aspects of parenting, please tell me you do too? Thankfully Love to Dream sent me some of their new products for winter recently so we were prepared for the cool change this year.

LOVE TO DREAM NUZZLIN 2.5TOG SLEEP BAG

Love to Dream have recently released the 2.5 tog Nuzzlin sleeping bag, which is perfect for winter. We've been huge fans of the Nuzzlin range of bags so I definitely wanted to try out the new winter bag. The new 2.5tog Nuzzlin bag is nice and cosy for winter, but still quite lightweight like the rest of the Nuzzlin range. It's made from soft knitted cotton and is padded with 100% natural bamboo filling, meaning it's nice and warm, but not too heavy {your baby won't look like the michelin man}. The bamboo filling is also hypo-allergenic so it's great for littlies who have sensitive skin.

Like the 1.0 tog Nuzzlin bag, the 2.5 tog bag does up via press studs over the left shoulder and an extra long double ended zip. I love this system for so many reasons. Firstly it means the bag completely opens up flat making it really easy to get bub into it, especially on the nights she falls asleep before I've put her in the bag, getting a 17kg toddler manoeuvred into a sleep bag while they're passed out can be quite tricky, but having the bag laid flat certainly heaps. Secondly, the press studs above her shoulder mean she can't escape from her bag. Thirdly, the double ended zip {and the fact it goes from her toes to her armpit} means nappy changes are super easy during the night and I don't have to take her out of the bag.

The Nuzzlin 2.5 tog bag comes in three different designs, pink with a stripy penguin, blue with a stripy seal and grey and white stripes with a red whale. Of course we went with pink, because we're a little pink mad at our house, and seriously how cute is that penguin?! The bag also comes in three sizes - 4-12mths, 12-18mths and 18-36mths. Bub is in the 18-36mths size and is almost 3, but the bag is still quite long for her so it will definitely see us all through winter, which I'm so glad about because I'm not ready to give up sleeping bags yet.

BUT HOW DO YOU KEEP BABIES ARMS WARM IN WINTER?

The one drawback I've found with all the sleeping bags we've used however, has been that they don't have arms. Obviously the summer ones don't really need them, but I always worry in winter that her little arms are going to get so cold even with long sleeve pyjamas on. I know I certainly feel the cold in my arms at night and unlike me she doesn't have the luxury of snuggling her arms under a blanket {she would if she'd use them and stay underneath them, but clearly she hasn't learnt how awesome they are yet as she just kicks them off}. I know I'm not the only mum to feel this way either because we've had many chats about this in mothers group over the years.

Thankfully Love to Dream have been working behind the scenes to fix this problem and have now released new arm warmers. Like the Nuzzlin sleep bags, they're made from soft knitted cotton with 100% natural bamboo filling. They come in the signature Love to Dream grey marle with striped sleeves and are available in three sizes {4-12mths, 12-18mths and 18-36mths}.
The arm warmers are 2.5 tog and designed to work with any sleeping bag. They're also a great trans-seasonal item for when its just starting to get cool at night, but its not cold enough to switch sleep bags yet. We've been using these for a few weeks with her 1.0 tog bag before we switched her over to the 2.5 tog bag and they worked a treat. Probably one of the best inventions for babies and toddlers ever.

Disclosure - I was kindly gifted a 2.5 tog Nuzzlin sleep bag + a set of arm warmers for the purpose of review. All opinions expressed are my own based on our experience with the products, as per my disclosure policy. I did not receive payment for this review. 1. I love the cute pattern and I'm going to assume it's as beautifully soft as the Nuzzlin 1.0 we have. We'd love to have a summer and winter version of this great sleeping bag. and the arm warmers would come in handy too. :-)

  2. The arm warmers!!!! The number of times I've plucked my littlest out of bed in the morning and her limbs have been cold where her torso is toasty is innumerable! I always think I'd love one of those baby sleeping bags for myself but if I were to have one, I'd want the arm warmers too.. So it makes sense my bubs should have the necessary accessories too ;)

  5. Hi! My favourite feature would be the double ended zip as I'm sure this would make nappy changing a lot easier! I would love to win this for my daughter's teacher who is currently pregnant with her first baby. My daughter has been lucky enough to have this teacher as her Grade Prep teacher when she first began her education, and also in Grade 5, and now in Grade 6, as my daughter's primary education is coming to an end. She has been an invaluable help to my daughter's learning, and we are planning to give her a hamper of goodies before she goes on maternity leave, so this would be ideal to include! Thanks for the opportunity!

  6. Hi I have 10mth old twins and think this would be perfect to transition from swaddles...especially in winter!!

  7. I love the concept on the arm warmers in general! I'm going to start transitioning my 6 month old out of the Love to Dream swaddle up's soon and using the arm warmers will mean I won't need to worry about his little arms getting cold (especially since winter has hit Sydney full on!)

  8. We're in the middle of transitioning to arms out with the Swaddle up 50:50 and I worry about that one little cold arm! I'd love the piece of mind that the arm warmers will give once both her arms are out!

  9. My favourite feature of the arm warmers is how easy they are to put on as my son has hit an age where he does not want to stay still for dressing and nappy changes.
We need the 2.5tog Nuzzlin Sleeping Bag in our lives as we live in Canberra and it gets freezing over night and is difficult to keep bub warm.

  10. The armwarmers are a perfect idea

  11. I love the double ended zip! Perfect for putting them in and for nappy changes without completely undressing. My one year has decided he doesn't like to lie on his back for nappy changes any more so the quicker I can be the better. The wintery weather has just arrived in the past few weeks so I need to upgrade my son's sleeping bag to the warmer 2.5 tog.

  12. Oh my goodness the double ended zip has made life so much easier. My bub has just transitioned from the swaddle suit so the arm warmers would be so perfect for this suddenly chilly weather!

  13. I love the bamboo filling and how natural it is - I don't want anything nasty near my baby boy! We definitely need one of these. We have a 7 month old son who we have taken on a road trip for the past 4 months and in a few weeks we will be home and it will be his first experience of the cold. We are from Sydney but have been in the NT & QLD and it has been lovely weather so haven't needed a sleeping bag but as we head more south we are starting to feel the cold!

  14. Love the idea of arm warmers!! My 6 month old still wakes for a feed at night. It's bad enough to be woke up by a crying baby... But then to be met with cold hands on the boob?! Not the best wake-up call! The thought of their arms (and hopefully hands!) being warm at night is a HUGE plus!!

  15. Those arm warmers look so good! The perfect way to keep my baby all snug and warm so he sleeps through the night!

  16. I'm due to have our first bub today! I love that they keep bub nice and warm without needing blankets, reducing the risk of SIDS.

  17. The arm warmers are so great to keep little arms warm in freezing cold Toowoomba!

  18. I love the arm warmers!
As a soon to be FTM with a winter baby i was didint like that most sleeping bags left bubs arms cold.

  19. I have used every swaddle, 50/50, summer lite, original, winter warm from the time our little Colton was born, he is now 4 months and we recently purchased the arm warmers to use as a little gown for the early mornings And will use them later on as he transitions. This product is genius. Cannot wait to move him into the gorgeous Nuzzlin.I will never go A day without using a LOVE to dream product.

  20. Love how they think of everything - double ended zip to make night nappy changes easier /warmer, the arm warmers for those that are wiggle bums and move out from under blankets and many beautiful patterns for everyones taste.

  21. My 5 month old twins love their love to dream swaddles! I'm about to transition them now so will be needing the sleeping bags now! I was a little worried about cold arms! But 'Arm Warmers' what a fab idea! No one like colds arms! Especially on these freezing Melbourne nights! I also know my babes will be safe in the Nuzzlin Suit! :)

  22. Having moved from Darwin to Sydney 4 months ago I didn't realise just how cool it would get and how quickly! (thanks for summer all year round Darwin) the arm warmers and bamboo filling are my favourite features- my 3 month old daughter wriggles her arms out from under the blanket every night and I'm constantly waking wondering if she's warm enough. The long zip will also make it easier to keep her warm while doing late night nappy changes. I would love to win one of these and I can't believe I've never seen them before!

  23. I have 10 week old triplets. 2 boys and a girl. All three are little houdinis and get out of all swaddles. What I love about these sleep bags is the bamboo filling. I am obsessed with bamboo clothing❤. These would be perfect to keep my little monkeys warm and help them sleep on these freezing nights. We would be able to change their nappies without them getting to cold. Keeping them toasty warm would me settle them after feeds. Three crying babies early hours of the morning is not so fun

  24. OMG you and Love To Dream must have been listening into a conversation I was having with my sister and mum a few weeks back. My beautiful little lady Ivy is now 8 months and we have moved into an extremely cold house that has one central fire and no carpet!! I am fanatical about temperature and always worry about her poor little hands and arms being cold. Ivy's first sleeping bag was a #armsuplovetodream bag and I probably kept her in it a little long but she was so happy - since then I have been trying other brands to get the perfect bag for our baby... I didn't even know this existed!!! I'm so excited - ❤️ the sleeves can come off so great - regardless of if I win or not ... Please please please we are going to head down to Baby Bunting and grab one today!!!! #lovetodream has saved me having to go on shark tank and pitch this very same concept.

  25. We loved our sleeping bags. We actually still have them as keepsakes. It was so cute when they would wake up and stand up in them.

  26. I love that the sleeping sac is a higher tog than the love to dream winter swaddle ups, and especially with the arm warmers! We are just about ready to try free arms at night - and on chilly Canberra I need them in my life! :)

  27. We love the soft and gorgeously cute designs of the 2.5tog sleeping bags. The highlands gets very cold through winter but the bag keeps our son nice and snuggly and comfy all night. Easy for a quick nappy change and the shoulder snaps help when putting a squirmy boy to bed. We need another as the weather gets cooler so he's never without one. If also love to try the arm warmers as he sometime wakes with very cold arms... Already and it's only going to get colder!

  28. I absolutely ADORE Love to Dream, we have their Original Swaddle Up and Layer on Merino, so their 2.5 TOG Sleeping Bag would be incredible for transitioning our baby into a sleeping bag during this chilly Melbourne winter!
I especially love the Arm Warmers, the 2.5 TOG warmth is perfect for keeping our little ones who are forever holding their arms over their heads while sleeping (and therefore out of reach of their blankets) nice and toasty!
The team at Love to Dream are innovative geniuses!

  29. I love the little attached mittens on the arm warmers! My son's hands are always freezing cold no matter how many layers I put on him. The little fold over mittens means I know his hands will stay warm through the night as well!

  30. I am a huge fan of the double ended zip for easy nappy changing access .

  31. Oh so many features, bamboo is wonderful and so are the arm warmers but I literally just spent ten minutes manoeuvring a sleeping bub into her bag and it was tricky so opening flat would have to be my pick!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm a huge fan of things being fuss free, so I love the simplicity of attaching the arm warmers. It can get pretty chilly down here in Tassie, so arm warmers would really come in handy with the battle to stay warm

  33. I can't get enough of Love to Dream! Their swaddles have saved me some sleep with both my terrible sleeping babes, I'm like you and constantly worry about are they warm, are they cold, are they asleep ;) and finally they have done something about the tiny arms which freeze in the cold!!

  34. The "anti-ice block" feature of the sleeves of the arm warmers are amazing! My little one has icicle fingers every morning. I've been searching high and low for a pair of the arm warmers!

    ReplyDelete
  35. My daughter loves to co-sleep, but she has a terrible habit of waking me by grabbing for her food sorce with her ice cold fingers. My favourite feature of the arm warmers would definatly have to be the ability to eliminate icy arms and fingers!

  36. The arm warmers are such a clever design,
Soft and comfortable for this rascal of mine.
I long for a decent night sleep,
    Being kept toasty-I wouldn't hear a peep!
